BMW to build limited edition Z4 sDrive35is
Setting this car apart from other Z4s, each Mille Miglia edition will be finished in a coat of matte Polaris Metallic with a blacked-out front grill, an M aero kit and 19-inch wheels finished in Dark Chrome. Inside, the seats and steering wheel will get a dash of red stitching. And of course, the limited edition model will also get unique badging inside and out.
Power will come from the standard 340-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six, mated up to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In somewhat related news, BMW has also recreated a classic 328 Kamm Coupé to take part in this year's Mille Miglia festivities.
Nine riders go down in Moto2, race restarted
Hi:) The very same properties that make oil perfect for lubricating the high-speed engine internals inside racing vehicles makes it extremely dangerous on the actual racing surface. No shock there... we all know oil is slippery. When racing goes from four wheels to two, though, that slippery surface can have especially disastrous results.
Such was the case last weekend during the Moto2 race at Jerez. A crash that sent Shoya Tomizawa and Simone Corsi to the ground spilled a fair bit of crankcase oil onto the track, which in turn caused a domino-like array of low-slides directly behind. In total nine riders went down in the wake of the spill.
Fortunately, the race was red-flagged and nobody was seriously injured. Dorna safety delegate Franco Uncini reportedly said after the race that the management group would likely make carbon fiber crankcase covers mandatory moving forward to prevent such issues in the future.

The sports car - An endangered species?
The 2010 Camaro has been a boon for General Motors and its Chevrolet brand, with sales of 9,150 units in April alone. The Mustang is down a bit at 5,145 units for April, but that's expected to change once the vastly improved 2011 models begin rolling into Ford dealers around the country. Even the Dodge Challenger had its best month ever in April. We can't tell you how happy it makes us that the pony car wars have once again began to boil over, but a report by Edmunds' Auto Observer correctly points out that the rest of the sports car market isn't faring nearly so well.
The report shows that sports cars like the once hot Nissan GT-R, with only 106 sales in April, are now struggling for sales. Porsche 911 sales are down 18 percent from a poor 2009, only 428 Mazda RX-8s have been sold in 2010 and Nissan failed to sell 1,000 copies of the fun to drive 370Z. Even the venerable Corvette, which saw 2007 production of over 40,000 units, is only at 3,522 units through four months of 2010.
Is the sports car on the permanent decline, or are we just hitting a big-time bump in the road? Take the poll below to give us your thoughts.
Awesome And Affordable Drop Tops: Eight Convertibles Under $30,000
Hi:) Sometimes a sunroof just doesn't cut it. When you need that true open-air experience, only a convertible will do -- especially with spring here and summer around the corner.
Perhaps you saw our recent hard top luxury convertible and sporty roadster comparison tests, and were left salivating. And you're probably dreaming, because, well, not everyone can afford a BMW 335i convertible or Porsche Boxster Spyder. That's what brings us here today. What we have on the following pages is a collection -- not a comparison -- of new convertibles available right now for under $30,000.
2011 Audi R8 GT Review
Hi:) These days, it's seemingly a requirement for any supercar worth its Y-rated rubber to have a limited-edition evil twin. Names like Scuderia, Superleggera, GT3 RS, and ACR-X are all testament to the current demand for no-nonsense road monsters, sacrificing comfort and practicality for purpose and sheer speed. Audi's R8 was billed as an everyday supercar when it was released, and the addition of a V-10 in the latest example hasn't done anything to change that impression. But such a reputation is a double-edged sword, with some dismissing the mid-engined Audi as too soft, or without soul.
Report: New GM Program Gives More Employees Chance To Sample Company Offerings
Hi:) Let's file this one under proof of a culture shift at General Motors. Until recently, only GM management types have been allowed to take the General's vehicles home with them. However, a new scheme called "The Company Vehicle Ambassador Program" lets regular Renaissance Center employees take loaner cars with them when they clock out. So far, about 500 GM employees have opted into the program.
Why the shift in policy? According to the Detroit Free Press, the program "is part of an expanding push within GM to get employees excited about its products and help them become better representatives of the company." This makes sense on two levels: One, having more knowledgeable employees is never a bad thing, regardless of the business.
Two, people don't simply leave work and run straight to their garage. They go shopping. They go out to eat. They run carpools. They go to church. Meaning that GM's new products will be seen around town. One employee described her experience with the new Chevy Camaro, "[drawing] cheers from neighborhood children every time she drove by and became quite the attraction at holiday parties." In other words, free marketing. Good on you, GM.
Kia Ray Shows A Bit More Skin Ahead Of Chicago Auto Show
Hi:) Kia has been teasing us over the last few weeks with the Ray concept car bound for next week's Chicago Auto Show, and today the Korean automaker has lifted up the skirt just a few more inches to show off what appears to be the concept's front fascia and headlights.
So, what do we know so far about the Kia Ray? Pretty much nothing other than the fact that it will be a plug-in hybrid of sorts, and that it looks pretty small. There may or may not be solar cells on the roof - naming it the Ray may have something to do with the sun, right? - and it may use the underpinnings from parent company Hyundai's Blue-Will concept.
So, now that we've gone over what we don't know, take a gander at the two teaser images that Kia's provided so far and try your best to wait patiently for the rest of the goods next week.

2011 Mustang GT - Great Car
This is great! There is no discussion of the 2011 Mustang GT without discussing the return to a five liter V8. The 5.0-liter, or 302 as it was known in the pre-liter era, has become irrevocably tied to the Mustang, when the 4.6-liter was introduced the Stang-faithful praised the improved power delivery but moaned over the loss of their favored displacement. This time the fans get their five liters AND a whopping 412 HP and 390 lb-ft of torque.
